Spectre Kaidan Alenko by MihaiRadu Spectre Kaidan Alenko by MihaiRadu
Fan art of Kaidan Alenko from Mass Effect done for :iconkoobismo:'s Marauder Shields project. It was done in conjunction with the comic's latest issue found here: [link]

Had fun with it. I shall mention that Kaidan was my choice in my one and only playtrough. The ghost is just a manifestation of his mind. A memory. No space magic here! :)

The Ash version is here: [link]

I like that you kept Ash's ME1/ME2 appearance. I find that internal consistency and authenticity admirable, nice job! [Although I freely admit I dislike Ashley's ME3 hussy'd-up appearance in general. :)]

It's always the little details that sell your work, like the original Phoenix (Sirta Foundation) outfit she's clearly wearing. (Collar and midriff are clearly identifiable.)

Yes, did a bit of research for suits and and tried to keep the details consistent.

I have to say i'm confused by one thing that maybe you can clear since you seem to know a few things. I've researched the Spectre logo and found this yellow V-shaped stripes that feature on Kaidan's armor. But Ash's spectre armor has a birdie instead of those. Whad up with dat? : )

I found the similarity between the wings and the Alliance forces symbol to be interesting enough to highlight, see here. <img src="[link] wings 2.jpg" alt="Wings on her shoulders" /> (Hopefully that link comes out alright. Never liked that you cannot edit your replies.)

Yep. Thanks for the info. Thing is, if you look up Spectre logo on the web, you get the (Kaidan) wings. It's also here on the wikia [link]

So still confused why Ash isn't wearing it. Although it appears on her other less heavy suit from the intro of ME 3 which is BEFORE she was a spectre. Might this be Bioware slip-up? : D

I've seen it, but I don't put any stock in the Wiki's use of that symbol. It's exclusive to ME3, Shepard never wore it, no other Spectre save Kaidan/Ashley uses it, and it's mentioned in none of the external source material (books, comics, etcetera, caveat: that I've read or perused). That leads me to think the Wiki's use is just fan-interpretation of its peculiar appearance in ME3. An easily identifiable symbol is counterproductive for an agent.

That I can't say with any veracity. Those characters have (Ashley) or don't have (Kaidan) insignias on their armour prior to being asked to join the Spectres, so it's definitely not affiliated. As far as I know, it's not directly tied to anything in Mass Effect. (Interesting sidenote, the wings changed. In the teaser trailer, it looked different. See here, in the first picture: [link])

I have two equally plausible theories: It could be artistic licence (perhaps something to do with the Alliance / fighting for freedom), or it could be a nod at something the voice actress has done in the past. (For instance, she voiced another Bioware game, Dragon Age: Origins, as Lanaya if I recall correctly.)
